The emulsion frames have to be stored in complete darkness and in a cool place. In this way the can be stored for about 30 days.
The number of threads of the frame strictly depends on the type of ink used. With water based inks such as the Modatex, which is frequently used as it does not need a drying rack, the meshes with a 55 thread/cm count are mostly used. One goes up to 34 and 43 for printing white covering cross-hatches, and then up to a maximum of 77 for very fine details
If plastisol inks are used, one can go up to a mesh count of 100 threads.
In order to print an A3 format you need a frame with external measures of cm 47x67. It does not make any difference whether it is in wood or metal.
In order to print an A4 format you need a frame with external measures of cm 45x55. It does not make any difference wether it is in wood or metal.
The wooden frame is lighter compared to a metal one, but in time it tends to warp if subjected to various washes in water, which are used to be able to engrave it. The metal frame lasts a lot longer and tends to flex less on the greater dimensions; however it weighs more. The costs, at least according to our rate manual, are the same if the dimensions are equal.
It is possible indeed. It will be sent in specific dark containers.
The yellow or orange mesh tends to eliminate the parasite lights which can reduce the engraving resolution. It is particularly useful on fabrics with a high count mesh (from 120 threads/cm and up), when engraving screened back images or for very fine lines.
It improves the performance of the neon light exposure units, as a source of indirect light, like the neon, tends to produce a lot of parasite light.
According to our experience, the yellow mesh does not make much difference on a 100/cm threads or less fabrics. It is worth mentioning the fact that with a yellow mesh one needs to proportionally increase the exposure time, as this mesh absorbs the light. -"25 x 25 mm" indicates the square profile of the frame, measuring 25x25 mm of the frame. It consists of a light and handy frame, suitable for frames measuring no more than 50 x70 cm.
- The profile called SC1, or TL/0 by other manufacturers, is traditionally the most used by the Italian screen printers, and it looks like an isosceles trapezium with matching sides slightly convex, the ones where the mesh is glued. Its volume is about 30x35 mm
It is made of iron, and it is varnished with blue powders enamel.
The cost of the two prifles is the same. If you do not have any particular requirements with regards to the compatibility of the frame with your printing machine, for practicality we suggest you order any available frame from our warehouse. Please bear in mind that the frame 25x25 mm is lighter and more handy, and it is suitable for measurements lower than 50x70 cm.

This is Franco Ratto,
Technical Director of Screen Printing Store.
Feel free to ask me your tech questions about printing or commercial informations.
Holly good morning and thank you for writing.
With the screen two things get old: the emulsion and the fabric.
The emulsion gets old after about two thousand passes.
The fabric gets old after about twenty thousand passes.
When the emulsion gets old, you can remove it with a specific product called "stripper", wash very well, let it dry, and then recoat it with a new layer of emulsion.
When the fabric gets old, you must remove it, then stretch the frame with a new fabric.
When the frame gets old I suggest you throw it away.
The maximum size of a screen could be 3 m wide by 6 m long.
However the problem is not to make the screen and engrave it.
The real problem is to use it by hand and without a special machine.
For example, it would be very difficult to pull a 2 or 3 meter long squeegee by hand.
I would suggest that it would be better to print your 5 meter sheet in smaller sections on a smaller screen.
It is not important whether you have 5000w or less, what is important is that it must be a UV light.
For example, a fluorescent tube of 36 w is enough to engrave your screen (with whatever emulsion you decide to use) if it is a UV tube.
Screenprintingstore has in stock kits of fluorescent tubes UV lights.
An alternative is to use a special kind of emulsion, e.g. the QLT Emulsion, which we have in stock. With this you can engrave your screen under a standard cold light (blue light 5000-6000 °K).
I hope this answers your question
Does the problem arises printing big and regular areas? It could depends on the permeability of the paper that soaks up the ink, so the ink itself goes into the fibre without remain on the paper surface. A frame of 120 thread it`s too much for big areas, maybe it`s better a thicker 77 thread frame that allows to a higher quantity of ink to pass and deposit on the paper. You should also try to change paper and silk screenprint using a less absorbent and more compact one so the ink will dry before go into the fibre.
